We supply in-depth expert knowledge and advice to clients who may not have technical knowledge of the mining industry. We act as specialist advisors to Boards of mining companies, investors and financial institutions. These services include Fairness Opinions, Risk Assessments and Expert Witness Testimony.
Competent Person’s Reports (CPR)
These are essential documents when seeking public or institutional funding. A CPR prepared by a geologist describes and qualifies resources, whereas a CPR prepared by a mining engineer converts the resource into a reserve and quantifies the metal or other mineral that an operator can extract from the resource. Both reports must comply with the requirements of internationally accepted Codes, such as SAMREC, JORC or NI 43-101.
Independent Technical Reports (ITR)
An ITR is part of the due-diligence process, and relates to the operational and technical aspects of the transaction.
The acquisition of a mineral resource or reserve is the ultimate caveat emptor, for the simple reason that the buyer is buying an asset virtually “sight unseen,” and requires expert advice.
Adjudication of Reports and Studies
Third party opinions on work completed by others are essential, as these can correct potentially damaging errors, including the over-or-under-estimation of a resource or reserve.
